I have a project for a specialized label printer/laminator/die-cutter in the works and the supplier selected in our DA (Decision Analysis) wants to control with the PC (custom C++ app) using remote digital I/O over Ethernet. ... As best I can tell, Modbus/TCP protocol would be a wise choice, and WAGO (750series)and Modicon (Momentum) are 2 options with products I would classify as industrial.

We are using Modicon PLC in water treatment plant. The processor model is 984 and system is in service since 1989. The programming unit which was supplied along with the PLC is not working and also the software back up not available. We want backup of running software and access to the system with new programming unit or through P.C with interface, without replacing the PLC to the new version
