AUCS driver comm. failure when writing to a modbus register

I'm using an AUCS modbus driver with CIMPLICITY to talk RS232 to a MicroMV4 flow meter. I get a communications failure whenever I send a write command to the flow meter. Has anyone else ever had this problem?
