We have two monitoring devices measuring power in and power out hooked up through Modbus in a network. I need to take alternating samples from each and find the efficiency during a time interval. I don't know much about this and am wondering where to begin my research/how I can do this. It needs to be recorded to Excel.
You didn't mention which manufacture you are using but here are a few ideas.
First you will need to "sync" the time clocks of the two monitoring devices. I'm assuming the monitoring devices are netwroked somehow.
Once you have done that you may be able to create a DLL link to Excel and calculate your efficiencies.

The devices are networked. I am using the MBAXP Activex controls in Excel. I was able to connect both devices and retrieve data but I can't do it at the same time (which is necessary for finding efficiencies). How does the "time sync" that you suggested work? Thanks for any help.
