PLCs and related questions. topic

I don't have any experience with setting up a AB PLC program for Modbus. It appears I need to use 'msg" function in my ladder logic somwhere so Modbus can read the files, is this true? The PLC will be the slave and will be read only, reading the I/O. I'm not sure how to set up the channel configuration or the msg configurations. It also looks like I will have to make my own comm cable to hook up the PLC. It looks like they have a d-shell plug on their cable end. Does anyone have any ideas or info on any of these issues will be greatly appreciated. I am using RSLogix 500 and I have the ML1100 manuals but things don't seem to be clicking for me.

My e-mail: ironbutterfly46563@yahoo.com

Thank you.

For the cable you will need Allen-Bradley part #1763-NC01. You do not need to use the message block for Modbus to read it.

In the channel configuration of the 1100, select Modbus RTU slave as the comm. protocol. You will also have to create data tables in the 1100 that will be put into the channel configuration so Modbus can read it. I will send you a example to your web site.

Hello! I have similar problem. I am using using Modicon M340 PLC, and Micrologix 1100. M340 PLC need to read/write few bit files (B21:0.0 to B21:1.15)in Micrologix PLC. (by using Modbus RTU read/write function blocks or I/O scanner[Ethernet connection]) but i have no information what are the registers for those bit files??? Any help...[email:hektorius@wp.pl]
