Modbus Comms problem

I am using a Siemens S7-300 Modbus Slave with a 3rd Party Modbus Master. Every 2-4 hours the master receives a packet with incorrect information. The packets are always returned correctly it is just the info inside that seems to be wrong. Can anyone suggest software that will provide a Modbus master device in my laptop, so that I can record the status of the bits/registers from the Siemens S7-300 over say, a 12 hour period?

Thanks.

What you need is a communications analyzer tool such as Serial Test Async from Frontline Test Equipment. Using this tool with a PC equipped with two serial ports you can record all communication activity, along with precise time stamps for days, even months at a time and then go back and search the data for the error. I am not associated with this company but have used their product for well over 10 years. In one very tough problem I recorded communication for almost 30 days in order to catch a "once in a while" problem.

I would never leave home without it!
