I am using a Moeller PLC to send messages to a Masterbus to Modbus interface. This unit must not be a true Modbus unit as the message is built up differently to a usual message. It uses Function 23.

I have used monitoring software to look at the message coming out of the PLC and all looks fine. I have used the Mastervolt usb interface to set the Modbus unit up to 9600, no parity and address 1, these are the only setting allowed. When I send out for example [01][17][00][00][00][06][00][00][00][06][0C][1B][00][39][4F][00][00][00][00][00][00][00][00][D3][08]In my case IDAL = 1B, IDB= 00394F, Tab number=00, Index=00. This should read a state of charge of a battery bank. I get no response from the unit what ever, even when I send out address [00].
Can any one help I am not an expert at all on these thinks.
