I am working on some instrumentation that will provide data to the customer via Modbus/TCP. I understand the difference between writable HR's and read-only IR's. But is there a standard practice to provide data from the instrument in Input Registers or Holding Registers? Does it matter, or is there a standard in practice?

Hi,

Why not map both function codes to the same data?

HTH,
