I have a quick question. I am an IT recruiter and have not come across a MODBUS requirement much and was curious if this was a system that software developers or engineers come across. A "given" when it comes to experience or if it would be something that is sought out and not commonly used.. Is Modbus a system commonly used and not put on a resume?

I think that Modbus would fall under a general category of Industrial Networks or Industrial Communications. This category includes Modbus, Modbus/TCP, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, and many others.

 

Agree with Bill. I wouldn't consider Modbus as an IT network but as an automation one. It is too widely used in automation to ignore it in a resume.
